MN Acoustic Guitar Showcase Brunch at Icehouse MPLS on Eat Street, This Sunday October 28, 2018, 11AM, no cover

MAGS2

The MN Acoustic Guitar Showcase is the brainchild of guitarist Elgin Foster and features a diverse array of Twin Cities-based acoustic guitar players at venues like Icehouse MPLS on Eat Street and the Aster Cafe on the riverfront in N.E. Minneapolis. These performances often feature players like Sam Breckenridge, whose progressive acoustic guitar style pays tribute to its wellspring, Michael Hedges, or the transcendent, floating, dream-like music of Dan Schwartz with his harp guitar and Weissenborn acoustic slide guitar. A sampler CD of a number of M.A.G.S. artists is also available.

I'm an expatriate Memphis musician and an instructor at a private music college in Minnesota. I find a greater clarity in my appreciation for music from Memphis and the Mississippi Delta region, now that I've lived away from it for decades, than when I was growing up in the midst of it.
