The Minnesota Acoustic Guitar Showcase is a musical collective of 10 Twin Cities based guitarists who cover a diverse range of styles in their solo sets and collaborations of rotating players. Sunday’s show features Dan Schwartz, Ben Abrahamson and Sam Breckenridge.
Dan Schwartz has written and released nine CDs and has been featured on several internationally released acoustic guitar compilations including Narada Records Masters of Acoustic Guitar. His latest solo CD is a collection of finger-style guitar tunes played on harp guitar and acoustic lap steel.
Ben Abrahamson blends the improvisation of jazz with the dexterity of flamenco. He has composed works for the Minneapolis Guitar Quartet, Zorongo Flamenco Dance Theatre, Mac Jazz big band, and Muhlenberg College Theatre and Dance Dept.
Sam Breckenridge is an expressive acoustic guitar player and reflects his interest in guitarists such as Michael Hedges, Andy Mckee, and Erik Mongrain, with lightning fast harmonics, classical right-hand movements, and percussive beats on the body of the guitar.
