Charley Patton

Celebrating Charley Patton (died April 28, 1934), also known as Charlie Patton, considered by many to be the “Father of the Delta Blues”, he inspired most Delta blues musicians. The musicologist Robert Palmer considered him one of the most important American musicians of the twentieth century.

I'm an expatriate Memphis musician and an instructor at a private music college in Minnesota. I find a greater clarity in my appreciation for music from Memphis and the Mississippi Delta region, now that I've lived away from it for decades, than when I was growing up in the midst of it.
