Sonny Sharrock

Celebrating Warren Harding “Sonny” Sharrock (August 27, 1940 – May 25, 1994), an American jazz guitarist and one of only a few guitarists in the first wave of free jazz in the 1960s. He was known for his heavily chorded attack, his highly amplified bursts of feedback, and his use of saxophone-like lines played loudly.

I'm an expatriate Memphis musician and an instructor at a private music college in Minnesota. I find a greater clarity in my appreciation for music from Memphis and the Mississippi Delta region, now that I've lived away from it for decades, than when I was growing up in the midst of it.
