Bokyung Byun is a rising star in the classical guitar community sparked by her successes in international competitions and by her many performances in her home country, Korea, as well as across the US and Canada. Byun began playing guitar at age six. Her concert programs often feature contemporary music alongside traditional repertoire. She has taught at the Aspen Music Festival and The Juilliard School, and as a primary-school guitar instructor. She holds Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from The Juilliard School, and is now pursuing a doctorate at the University of Southern California as a recipient of the prestigious International Artist Fellowship.
