Mary Cutrufello FREE; Friday May 7, 2021; 6:00-8:00pm; Como Lakeside Pavilion

A glorious return of outdoor Twin Cities music! Cutrufello, Connecticut-raised and Yale-educated, Texas honky-tonk heroine, fiery Midwestern roots-rocker, mixes jangly chords of the heartland with a Texas twang. Having spent nearly a decade working the Texas “triangle circuit” (Austin, Houston, Dallas), she landed in the Twin Cities in 2001 at the end of a tour opening for the Allman Brothers. She paused her singing career when vocal cord problems temporarily silenced her, but she’s back now “singing with a whole other level of nuance” and a lot of energy and soul!

I'm an expatriate Memphis musician and an instructor at a private music college in Minnesota. I find a greater clarity in my appreciation for music from Memphis and the Mississippi Delta region, now that I've lived away from it for decades, than when I was growing up in the midst of it.
